I am Masters level Social Worker and a graduate of The University of Toronto, Faculty of Social Work. I am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (Registration #326600) and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
I have over 25 years clinical experience in both community and hospital-based settings. I was employed at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in the Division of Youth Psychiatry for over 15 years, in both the inpatient and outpatient departments, where I provided counselling, psychoeducation and client advocacy. As a community-based social worker, I have provided counselling and rehabilitation services to clients of The Social Work Consulting Group, who have sustained emotional, cognitive, and physical injuries, as a result of motor-vehicle collisions and other personal injuries. I have acted as a mental health consultant within the educational system and to Primary Care Physicians. I am also currently contractually affiliated with Mindbeacon, where I provide both Guided and Live Therapy.
My comprehensive clinical experience involves counselling individuals, couples, families and groups. In my private practice, I have provided therapeutic support to individuals across the lifespan, who are struggling with mental health issues such as: Depression, General Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Grief, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and I have supported clients in coping with daily stressors and challenging life events. I am an experienced couples and family therapist and have assisted clients in facilitating improved communication and understanding, as well as resolving conflict to improve overall relationship dynamics. My practice is grounded in a client-centered, systems-based approach drawing upon the main tenants of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Solution Focussed Based Therapy, Mindfulness, Relaxation and Stress Management.

Individual counselling can focus on a variety of needs that are unique to each person. Through the initial stages of counselling, goals are established in order establish areas of need. Common areas of need include, coping with symptoms of anxiety and depression, managing daily stressors and responsibilities, problem-solving important decisions, and many more. Client’s social-emotional needs are prioritized addressed through supportive counselling, as well as the introduction of various strategies and resource material.

Family counselling helps family members understand one another and work through difficult feelings in a safe space. This type of therapy focuses on improving the interactions and communication between family members and providing the necessary tools to address conflict in a constructive manner.

Couples counselling can address a wide range of relationship challenges including, differing expectations, poor communication, recurring conflicts, lack of trust, feelings of disconnectedness, etc. Through the counselling process, couples can rebuild their interpersonal connections and work towards common goals for the future.
